Our lives are getting conflicted each day and with the fast growth of appetite for the internet, many people are abandoning the social aspects of their lives. Everything is online. People want to work, live and sleep online. Many relationships start online these days, if not Facebook, then Instagram, Snapchat or WhatsApp.

People are falling for profiles instead of a character. As a result, those they believed to have fallen in love with, mostly turn out to be who they are not. Singles need to know that Profiles online do not necessary tell you who a person is. Besides, those who go to various boutiques to try on dresses and take pictures of themselves, end up not buying the clothes. They later post the pictures online to portray they have those dresses. There are people who create profiles which do not define who they are.

I believe you have seen profiles of people from top universities who cannot write well. Profiles of people living outside the country when they don’t even have passports and have never been to those countries before. You have also seen others who post pictures from their various office environment which is neat but never post images from their homes. People post what they want you to see, people put out what they want you to know about them.

You can fall in love with who the person says they are online but you will end up with who they don’t tell you they are, which is the real person. You can get carried away with who they are online but get disappointed with who they are in person or real life.

Marriage is not a page subscription or an e-transaction, it is a life lived together with the person you love and call family. So, for your own good, don’t fall for anyone online unless you get to know them in person. Until you can trust them don’t fall in love with them. Online is a good place to meet people but not a good place to start your marital journey.

The first visit which is introductory visits, actually is not these days. People have sex with a total stranger on the first day, baby is made on the first visit, promise of marriage is done on the first day. They only get to know they are in a wrong relationship later, and when they even do they refuse to accept the truth and live in denial.

Lots of people who say or indicate on their profile to be single during chats are not single. Many are married or in another relationship. Many who say they don’t have kids do have and sometimes not with one person but with different people. There are some who claim they are working but are jobless. If you don’t want your marriage or relationship to turn out as a scam, take your relationship beyond online.

In conclusion, “Even if you have to suffer for doing good things, God will bless you. So stop being afraid and don’t worry about what people might do.” – 1 Peter 3:14 (CEV).
