Dear lady, the engagement ring on your finger is a sign that you are taken and no longer available to other suitors. It is to keep other interested guys off and keep you focused. It simply means you are betrothed or engaged.
Marriage proposal, courtship or ring engagement is different from being married. Don’t let anyone fool you into having sex just because you’re engaged to them, while he’s yet to pay your dowry. Not everyone who gets engaged finally gets married to their proposed spouses.
Experiences have shown that an engagement/courtship can get broken for one reason or the other.

Ladies, that a man gave you an engagement ring is not the end; neither does it conclude that he’s going to marry you. Until he marries you as his beloved wife, don’t grant him the pass card to your body.
Men, that you gave your fiancee an engagement ring doesn’t give you license to have sex with her. As long as you’re yet to pay her dowry, wait! Honour, don’t defile her.
Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: for God will judge adulterers and all sexual immorals. Hebrew. 13: 4.
