Is point blank not easy! No! Except by the grace and mercies of God!
I like an organized prayer life where the room is well swept, chair well positioned, Bible, books and everything that makes prayer and meditation so sweet neatly placed and well arranged, while I close my eyes in a blissful ecstasy and worship the Lord with the whole of my being. Tell Him how deeply I love Him, sing His praises, worship Him, totally adore Him. Ask for what I need of course, intercede, fire on and simply enjoy my prayer.
Then open my bible and sigh sweetly as the heavenly messages wash through my nerves and spine, then read other books I have in my schedule then go on and sleep and have the sweetest, glorious dreams I surely deserve after a hard day work…
Nay! It is not always so.
There are times I jump out of my prayer room when I hear the piercing cry of my son or had to spend all the time attending to their needs till I become exhausted and start dozing the moment I want to pray (laughing, this is not the devil at work darling. It is exhaustion at work)!
There are times I get worried sick my son is rousing and needs to ease himself. There are days kids refuse to sleep on time no matter the coercing, threat and “bribes”!
Motherhood is a big responsibility!
Though kids are so lovely and fun to have around -just a mere look at them gives you so much pleasure, they can be time consuming and hijack the time you ought to use to build your spiritual life if care is not taken!
I have learnt from experience not to wait for the perfect time to pray and read my Bible anymore!
Every time they are not around and I have sometime to myself, I maximize it.
I recently had all the time to eat dinner alone, I quickly turned into fellowship with the Lord. The time I spent in the toilet was not wasted, I used it to commune with the Lord. In the kitchen before clearing the dishes, I was able to talk to the Lord.
Instead of waiting to spend 4 hours (which you may not have) at once, maximize all your spare time to commune with the Lord. A little here, a little there will add up and become a big something one day. You can make good use of the night though. Night is the best bet for any mum who want to be on fire for God, that is if you are not exhausted and hubby wouldn’t be needing his own share of your attention!
A time will come when your kids are grown and do not need your constant attention like before, you can then pray for hours on end, no one will disturb you.
For now, the kids need much of your attention, do not deny them and do not feel guilty for doing so. Just put the Lord first and give Him the best of yourself every time you are free to do so.
He understands and He cares.
You can still be spiritually hot as a mother.
Fire on! Pray every time you can.
Motherhood is great.
You are great!
I love you.
Thanks for reading. God bless you. Cheers!
