A goal is an idea of the future or desired result that you envision, plan and commit to achieve within a set time. What is the desired result you envisioned for your marriage. How do you plan to achieve them. Being single is an opportunity to get things right in your marital choice.
1) Marry someone that’s a child of God. Both of you should serve God together towards raising your children in godliness.
2) Marry someone that have respect for family life and values. Someone who shows respect for his parents and siblings and takes seriously things that boost family. How he treats his or her present family might be how he or she will conduct his or her family.
3) Marry someone who shows leadership qualities, matured and responsible. Checkout how he relates with people and his or her personal life; you’ll get clues to what he or she is made of.
4) Marry someone who has a plan for the future and which you both can build the future together. A purpose driven person. Someone who is not a vision killer.
5) Marry someone with source(s) of income. Who can earn, manage and grow money no matter how little it is. Marriage needs money. Though the person may not have it all initially but there’s prospect. A liability can kill marriage.
6) Marry someone with character that enhances blissful marriage; a faithful man or a virtuous woman. Bad attitudes can kill marriage.
7) Marry someone who is independent of parental or in-laws control or dictate and who first have a life of his or her own.
8) Someone you have prayed on and divinely convinced about to marry. Not someone imposed on you. Let God guide you.
9) Marry someone who believes and practice sexual purity and strives for it. How sexually disciplined is he or she? Someone who is sexually lose can be a threat to blissful marriage. Some cases of infidelity in marriage were outbursts of single life.
10) Work on yourself to be the kind of person you want your spouse to be. Work on your character, attitudes, relationship with God, career, income earning capacity, etc. Study Gods word, buy books, attend seminars, etc. Demanding too much from people while You’re opposite of your demand is hypocrisy. Strive to be Mr or Miss Right and you’ll see God directing your step to a partner that’ll complement you.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6.
