Loving oneself is something each and everyone who wants to have a relationship or go into one in the future should do. The truth is, you know yourself better than anyone does; you know when you are hungry, you know when something hurts you. No one has the heart you have; no one has the eyes you have. Not everyone will appreciate you or see what you see so why do you want to wait for such a person? A person you might never find, with whom you might never have true happiness.
We live in a cruel world; the way you treat people will not necessarily be the same way you will be treated, so it is worth you give yourself the best of treatment rather than waiting for someone who doesn’t exist, someone you are not going to meet.
Once you learn to love and appreciate yourself, you become content and happy with your life, it becomes easy for you to share your life with others. When you set the standard for loving yourself, putting yourself first, it’s hard for you to accept something less. You don’t allow people to disrespect you or treat you bad. Those who can’t handle you will simply fall away. You have to do what is best for you and not what is best for people.
There is nothing beautiful like having someone who appreciates you in the smallest things, accepts you in bad times, comforts you when you are troubled, loves you no matter what and is happy living their lives with you alone. There is nothing nicer than when that person is yourself.
It’s powerful when you are responsible for your happiness; rather than going out, looking for people who don’t care about you, who will manipulate you, lead you on, fool you, control you and abuse you. Don’t give that power to anyone. Don’t create circumstances you might end up being the victim.
Learn to be true to yourself, when you do that, there is no need to explain yourself to anyone anymore. People are free to think what they wish. It is their opinion of your life and they are entitled to that but don’t forget that it is not the truth or the fact. As long as you know yourself and are doing what is right, that’s all that matters.
If you have to go into any relationship, you don’t have the sense of owning someone for you own yourself, you only go out to share your life. If you feel like helping someone, you do that without expecting anything in return. If you have the power to make anyone happy, you just do it without expecting anything in return. You don’t go out to impress people, for you love yourself so much and only share the love with others.
In conclusion “He who loves wisdom loves his own best interest and will be a success” – Proverbs 19:8 (TLB).
