As human beings, we are quick to compare our lives with others, just to feel better than them. This has resulted in rivalry, jealousy and battle of power between friends, colleagues, etc. You don’t work for applause, you don’t need a mass of followers to know you are making impact on lives; you don’t need the approval of people to get to the top. If for nothing remember what happened to Jesus, those who hailed Him with hallelujahs were the same people who said crucify him.
The only person you need to get to your destination in life is God, your relationship with God is what matters. “If God is on our side, who can ever be against us?” – Romans 8:31b (TLB). When we have lots of God inside, we can’t go outside comparing our lives to others, for it is not what is outside that takes us to the top but what’s inside. People who ride on competition live in bitterness, anger and a hate-filled world whilst the opposite live in a friendly, caring and love-filled world.
Today, my big question to you is, which one do you want? Hate-filled world or love-filled world? The path you are on in life may not look exactly like the road you thought you were going to take, you might not have lots of money like others, you might not have lots of followers like others, you might not look beautiful like others, you might not drive what others are driving, you might be single, while others are married; but be rest assured, it is the path that you were destined to be on.
The way you started doesn’t matter, it’s how you finish that matters and as far as I know, God is not done with you yet. So be happy and focus on the light within you rather than comparing that with the shadows in others. Be grateful rather than being resentful, it costs you $0.00 to be grateful for what you have. Let go the things that you are not happy about and the things that hurt you than to dwell on them.
Encourage others than merely criticizing them, that doesn’t make you better either but rather worst. Instead of casting wounds on others, choose to heal, let your words bring healing. Choose to give to others than to take, one of our purposes on earth is to serve. It is more blessed to give than to receive” – Acts 20:35b (TLB). Instead of hating people, choose to love them. That makes you a better person than being bitter.
This life is a tough battle for some people, let your life inspire them, bring them up and not down. Now remember, each time you bring someone down, you go down with them. As you travel on this lifes journey, you will come across people who will like you and some who won’t.
Just remember you can’t get everyone to like you, so don’t knock yourself down trying to. Keep a smile on your face, it adds value to your face; keep love in your heart always for it adds value to your heart.
Respect people you come across for that adds value to your behaviour. Written by Danjuma Iliya.
