1) Premarital sex is a disobedience to God
To engage in premarital sex is a disobedience to God’s word. Scripture says; “for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh” (Gen. 2:24). So God designed sex to be enjoyed by a man and his wife within a marriage relationship. To engage in sex outside marriage is therefore disobedience to God’s word.
”To obey is better than sacrifice” (1Sam. 15:22). God values your obedience to Him more than your sacrifices. You may pay huge tithes and offerings at Church but God prefers your simple obedience to your huge offerings.
2) Premarital sex hinders your personal relationship with God
Since sex before marriage is disobedience to God, engaging in it badly affects your personal relationship with God. As a Christian you are dependent on God for your provisions. If you choose to disobey and rebel against the authority of God by doing what He tells you not to do, then what kind of relationship do you intend to have with Him? Just as disobedience separated Adam and Eve from God, so premarital sex separates people from God.
3) Premarital sex opens your life for demonic operations and influence
As you engage in premarital sex, you lose connection with the power of God and that makes you vulnerable for demonic manipulations. Evil spirits then get their way into your life to activate their operations.
Some of these evil spirits can cause you to lose more interest in the things of God. Some can prevent you from ever getting married and even if you get married some of these evil spirits can influence your marriage to make it a hell on earth. Some evil spirits can also influence you to marry a wrong person and some can cause you to be unfaithful in your marriage. The destructive consequence of premarital sex is more lasting than its pleasure. Flee from premarital sex!
4) Premarital sex leads to abortion and killing of innocent babies
Murder is the commonest sin that follows premarital sex. Many of the people who indulge in premarital sex are also murderers. Premarital sex, a sin planted in secret, produces an open fruit of unwanted pregnancy. People then try to keep their pregnancy out of sight by committing abortion.
Abortion is a sin of murder. It is a termination of human life. And Scripture says, “the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death” (Rev. 21:8).
Moreover, abortion can lead to infertility. During an abortion, various instruments similar to knives and forks are introduced into your womb. The introduction of these instruments or abortion drugs can leads to infections. And these infections can lead to blocking of the fallopian tubes.
Now if your fallopian tubes are blocked you will not be able to become pregnant. Because the fallopian tubes assist in the transfer and transport of the female egg cells from the ovary to the womb each month and if this path is blocked, then it means your egg cells cannot reach your womb for pregnancy. You will then find yourself in hospitals and prayer centers looking for deliverance. Don’t wait to waste time and money, receive your deliverance now by obeying the word of God!
5) Premarital sex weakens your conscience
Premarital sex weakens your conscience as you continue to compromise and live in sin. You may eventually end up defending sin and wrongly interpreting God’s word to suit your sinful actions, instead of changing your actions to suit God’s word.
6)Premarital sex produces extramarital sex
Those who plant premarital sex before marriage reap extramarital sex after marriage. There is higher probability for people who engage in fornication before marriage to continue in adultery after marriage, except when there is genuine repentance.
7) Premarital sex robes respect
Premarital sex robes lovers of the respect they have for each other. Lovers then begin to see and treat each other in a way different from how they treated each other at first. Waiting to wed before bed is a sign that your partner is worth waiting for, and that increases the level of respect in the marriage.
8)Premarital sex destroys trust
Premarital sex destroys the trust lovers have for each other. People who engage in premarital sex may marry but there may be little or no trust in such marriage. This is because the trust was broken when they offered themselves to each other and still stood in front of the Lord’s altar saying, ‘We know nothing that prevents us from being united as couples.’ On that day they found each other to be a liar. Don’t trade your trust for 10 minutes’ pleasure.
9)Premarital sex blinds you
Premarital sex blinds you from noticing red flags in a relationship. Sex before marriage blinds you from noticing and dealing with relationship problems. These problems show up after marriage and may eventually lead to divorce.
10)Premarital sex increases the pain of heartbreak
Heartbreak is less painful when no sexual relation was involved in a relationship, but it’s more painful when you are dumped after offering your body.
11)Contraction of STDs
Premarital sex increases the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and HIV/AIDS. These STDs can lead to pregnancy complications, eye inflammation, pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, heart disease, certain cancers and even death.
12) Premarital sex defiles you spiritually
Premarital sex is filthy and engaging in it defiles you spiritually. You may use contraceptives to prevent pregnancy but those contraceptives cannot prevent the corruption of your spirit. Flee for your life!
Bible says; marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral (Hebrew 13:4). Obeying Gods word on premarital sex will not only preserve your salvation, it will also save you from sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies, killing of innocent babies through abortion, and the other aforementioned effects.
Abstinence saves lives, protects babies, gives sexual relations the proper value, and most importantly, helps your walk with Jesus. Remember, contraceptives prevent pregnancies but cannot prevent the corruption of your spirit. Say ‘NO’ to premarital sex!
With this said, it is also important to note that committing sexual sin is not the end of your life. Though these aforementioned consequences are possible effects of premarital sex, God is gracious, and can work on you and your marriage to make it better if you really repent and turn away from your sins.
