MARRY BY MISTAKE, STAY BY MISTAKE

The phrase “if you marry by mistake, you will stay by mistake” is a powerful reminder of the importance of being intentional and deliberate when it comes to choosing a spouse. Marriage is not something that should be entered into lightly or impulsively. Rather, it requires careful thought, prayer, and consideration.

When we enter into marriage by mistake, we are essentially making a commitment based on factors that are not truly meaningful or lasting. Perhaps we are caught up in the excitement of a new relationship, or we are trying to escape loneliness or other difficulties in our lives. Whatever the reason, if we enter into marriage without truly understanding the person we are marrying, we are likely to find ourselves in a relationship that is unsatisfying, unfulfilling, and even harmful.

The Bible tells us that God designed marriage to be a source of love, companionship, and joy. In Genesis 2:18, we read that God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” When we marry the right person, we experience the fulfilment of this divine design. We have a partner who supports us, encourages us, and helps us grow closer to God.

But when we marry the wrong person, we are not able to experience the fullness of what God intended for us in marriage. We may find ourselves struggling with conflict, dissatisfaction, and even abuse. We may feel trapped in a relationship that is not meeting our needs but that we feel powerless to escape.

If you find yourself in a marriage that you entered into by mistake, it is not too late to make a change. With God’s help, you can work to build a strong, healthy marriage. This may require counselling, prayer, and a willingness to make difficult changes. It may also require a willingness to admit that you made a mistake and to seek forgiveness and grace from both God and your spouse.

Above all, remember that marriage is a sacred covenant that requires deep commitment and intentional effort. When we enter into it by mistake, we rob ourselves of the opportunity to experience the fullness of God’s love and grace in our lives. But with God’s help, we can learn to love and serve our spouses in a way that honours Him and brings joy and fulfilment to our lives.
