I have spent some time wondering what our society defines as beautiful; and what love is and what is not. What questions come to your mind each time you see a not very handsome man with a pretty lady, either dating or married? Could this be love? Others say, I am sure its because of his money that the pretty lady is with him and not because he is handsome or good looking. Does appearance define love, is it a thermometer for measuring love?
One of the most beautiful experiences this world has witnessed is an eclipse. Think of the sun as an ugly man and the moon as a beautiful lady but each time they come together, the whole world stares in awe of their eclipse. A beautiful experience none of them can give as separate entities. This is how a relationships beauty should be measure, not based on individual looks. In 1 Corinthians 13:4 one of the attributes of love is kindness and not appearance. Kindness is what makes a person the most beautiful being in the world, no matter how they look.
The most attractive thing about you should have less to do with your face or body and more to do with your heart and how you treat people. There is a difference between pretty and beautiful. When someone is pretty, they have a good appearance but when someone is beautiful, they shine on the inside and out. It takes the heart to keep a relationship.
Looks only attract but nothing can compare to a beautiful conversation with a beautiful mind. Growing up, each time someone turns me down based on looks, I always tell myself “I am not handsome but I can give my hand to someone who needs help, because beauty is required in the heart not in face”. And when the right one came along, she never judged me via appearance, today, she is wearing the smile I gave her.
To my fellow friends who are leading others on just because of their looks, please remember, love cannot be found where it doesn’t exist nor can it be hidden where it truly does. Never surrender your heart for the price of beauty and don’t waste sunsets with people who will be gone by sunrise.
In conclusion, keep this scripture with you; 1 Samuel 16:7 (CEV) “But the Lord told him, Samuel, don’t think Eliab is the one just because he’s tall and handsome. He isn’t the one I’ve chosen. People judge others by what they look like, but I judge people by what is in their hearts.
