We limit the essence of a woman in the society by saying VIRGINITY is HER PRIDE. Women pride in a lot of things far than just virginity.
To avoid gender jingoism, I plead my readers to switch this topic to “VIRGINITY IS NOT A HUMAN’S Pride” just in your minds. I used that topic up there because it has been the phrase that has poisoned our mindsets, ripped us of real knowledge and left us with a poverty of the mind. We’ll keep speaking up, so that we keep learning.
I’m placing a declaimer here that THIS ARTICLE DOESN’T IN ANYWAY ADVOCATE PREMARITAL SEX. If you’re pinning your disvirgined self on this piece, you’re on your own. In fact, I admire virgins and I can remember telling my Mum in my tender ages, that I will marry a virgin when I grow up. I think I’ve grown to a reasonable age now, lemme rephrase those words.
Up until now, my Dad keeps boasting of the fact that my Mum was a virgin before he married her; so I keep wondering. If virginity is a woman’s pride does it mean my mummy has lost hers since she married dad? If virginity is a woman’s pride, then our mum’s have lost their pride and don’t you ever come up with that excuse of ‘Yes, after she got married it’s no more counted, we’re referring to virginity before sex’. No no, don’t face me with that shitty fact, shove it down your throat because it’s not a point at all, because literally virginity means the act of still retaining one’s hymen unbroken. Anything other than that is disvirginity.
If virginity is a woman’s PRIDE what happens to the PRIDE of that little girl after she’s been raped in the street? What happens to the dignity of that sports-freak, beautiful girl who lost hers during a high jump?
A lot of virgins have committed more sexual atrocities than breaking their hymen. They’ve had oral sex, practiced lesbianism, had lap sex, or don’t you know there’s something like that? Yet, they advertise their virginity and intimidate those who’ve lost theirs, mistakenly or intentionally.
By definition, a woman’s or human’s PRIDE, is their DIGNITY, EGO, and LEGACY. It is their virtue and character towards the fellow human. And don’t come to tell me that PRIDE has nothing to do with virtue unless you don’t know the real definition of PRIDE.
Look, let’s face the fact, if you’re still a virgin, please do retain it, it’s a treasure, a great one indeed, it’ll earn you respect. If you’ve lost yours one way or the other, don’t loose hope. Your dignity, virtue and pride are still intact if you can trace back your mistakes and pick up the broken pieces. Your pride isn’t shoved anywhere in-between your legs. Your VIRTUE IS WHAT YOU have UPSTAIRS even WHEN YOUR VIRGINITY has been lost DOWNSTAIRS.
As a young man if I lost everything in life, the fact that I’ve Jesus Christ, brains and can still think straight and ink life-changing things down, gives me the greatest PRIDE more than virginity can ever give me. Your dreams and purpose are your greatest PRIDE. If you’ve something you know how best to do right now, you’ll relate to what I’m saying.
Finally, I still hope to marry a lady who’s a virgin, but if I happen to see a lady who ticks all boxes of ‘marriage material’ or rather all boxes of what I term ‘marriage material’, I will wife her.
VIRGINITY IS NOT A WOMAN’S PRIDE – VIRTUE IS!!!
