Matt. 22:39 “The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”
Eph. 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
THERE is Good news for you!
You are a better person than you think you are!
God wants you to love yourself for all that you are worth.
Can you say vividly that you love yourself?
Understand that there is no virtue or humility in thinking less of yourself. It is lack of self-love that lies at the root of all our personal and social ill health. It causes people to do all kinds of abnormal things such as examination malpractices, self-reconfiguration – transgender, cosmetic treatment (pedicure/manicure, etc.). It causes divorce, suicide, gluttony, starvation, drunkenness, usage of hard drugs, cultism/occultism, spirit of witchcraft, adultery/fornication, party spirit, etc.
It causes us to misjudge innocent people, hate people, kill people, do all kinds of harm to one another. It keeps us from acting like men. Read 1 Cor. 16:13 “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, ACT LIKE MEN, be strong.” It causes us to think less of God’s power in us even though we were made in His image and pattern. Sometimes we sentence God as a being that had ceased to manifest His power and glory.
How does one learn to love himself?
1Cor.16:14
1) Know yourself and accept yourself.
Your weaknesses as well as your strength. See yourself honestly as God sees you: accept your temper, impatience, stupidity, irresponsibility, etc. These are not good but God accepts you that way. God’s love doesn’t demand change but produces change.
2) Be your own best booster, 1Cor.16:13.
Look at yourself in the mirror. Don’t worry about all your blemishes and faults at this point. Tell yourself, I am a child of God. God only makes the best. I am made by God; therefore I am the best.” You are not a sinner but a winner.
3) Find a challenge.
People who don’t like themselves don’t have any confidence to do great things. Find a challenge and see who you are. Hold before you the picture of what you would like to be or to do. Phil.3:13,14; Rom.15:20. Picture yourself a winner and you will prove the picture. Read Eph. 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Always smile back at yourself in a bold and wonderful way as a being destined for greatness, overcoming all challenges of life through God who strengthens.
4) Don’t ever allow yourself to forget yourself for any moment.
God loved us enough to let His son die for us. If He loves me that much, how dare I not love what God loves so much. Study John 3:16. Think as much of yourself as God thinks of you. When you do you will experience a glorious new birth of self-worth.
Realize that Jesus Christ came to change our whole portrait from the picture of a sinner to the image of a saint. He is the answer to the deepest need to love our individual/personal selves. We must live in this portrait and keep our lives glowing with that love of the Father of love. This is a lift into the reality of love. Please, keep loving yourself.
