If you don’t want a complicated life, don’t date anyone who is in a complicated relationship. Many youths especially, are not wise when it comes to taking decision on relationship or marriage. They are busily online reading people’s status and updates instead of reading their books. They are interested in knowing about what goes on in others’ lives rather than developing or adding to their lives. Bad relationships or marriages are not due to a lack of love but lack of knowledge.
Many believe they are the cure or solution to a complicated relationship. A complicated relationship is simply defined as a relationship between two complicated people. If you who is not complicated think you can be what the other person needs and wants, let me remind you “People learn from one another, just as iron sharpens iron” – Proverbs 27:17 (GNT).
If you meet someone who is interested in you but he or she is in a complicated relationship, the best you can do for them is to leave them to deal with their complication. Sometimes what they call complication is not a complication, they just want to cheat or play so they hide behind the word complication.
The people in the relationship have the power to determine the direction or growth of their relationship, if they think they cannot be together, they should go their separate ways. If they can’t go their separate ways then it means they want the relationship, but are not ready to work or fix what is not working.
No one can make someone love them or be in a relationship with them against their will. They choose to do so. If it is not working and the problem, obstacle or barrier is beyond them, they should rather seek for professional help. But if he or she is still there, it just means they don’t want to let go. No serious person wants their time wasted, no serious person wants to be associated with what is not working.
If you have a simple life and think you are the antidote for a complicated relationship, wait until you exchange your simple life for complication. No matter your feeling for such a person, you’ve got to be careful.
The heart is just like the anchor to our lives. That is why the Bible says “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life” – Proverbs 4:23 (NLT). Just as not every port is safe for the anchor to be dropped or thrown, not every man or woman is a safe port to drop your heart, especially a complicated person who is in a complicated relationship.
Date someone who is single like you; who is not in any other relationship, be it complicated or not. Someone who is simple like you. If the person who wants to date you just came out of a complicated relationship, don’t date them.
Allow him or her enough time to get over the past, learn their lesson, work on them and be ready before you date them. In the same way if you are coming out of a complicated relationship, learn from the very things that made the relationship complicated, move on and be ready before you start a new relationship, else you end up repeating the old relationship.
People can be cunning, they could just pretend to be in a complicated relationship, tell you stories that are so bad, yet the million dollar question is, why can’t they let go the relationship. The answer they give is, “it is complicated”, just to prevent you from further enquiries. Be careful. It’s better to run from such a person than to be led on. If you get to know people like I do, if you are privileged to listen to what I listen to, you will come to realize why Noah, apart from his family, only let animals on the boat. Human beings can be wicked.
In conclusion, “Sensible people will see trouble coming and avoid it, but an unthinking person will walk right into it and regret it later” – Proverbs 22:3 (GNT).
