Time is key in everything, just as the bible says “…there is time for everything under the sun.” There is time to date and time to remain single. Time decides who you meet in life, and when you are not ready for marriage you meet the wrong people. Wrong people because they have different expectations. You can be ready for marriage but if the one you are interested in is not ready, it’s better to let the person go, for you can’t make anyone ready for what you are ready for.
At the same time, you are not obligated to wait around for them until they are ready or make up their mind. You do so at your own risk. There is a chance that, when they are ready, you might not be the right choice of partner for them. No matter how beautiful or handsome you are, no matter what you ride or have in your account, no matter how ideal of a partner you are for anyone, they still might not know what to do with you because they are not ready for marriage and don’t have the grace to handle that blessing; you might end up being a curse to them.
Timing is just everything. There was a reason why God didn’t create everything on the same day, Adam wasn’t created on the first day. There is a reason why a farmer has to plant at the right season. Therefore no matter how you feel about someone, their character or behaviour, you need the right timing to get into a relationship with them in the name of marriage.
Boys and girls these days keep messing up big time, getting into relationships with the aim of marriage knowing very well they are not ready for marriage. In case you don’t know, marriage is for the matured. Marriage is for a man and woman because they keep priorities right and are interested in developing themselves before marriage.
They understand that every firm and tall building first needs a strong foundation. These are people who walk with a purpose and take no delight in messing up. These are people who forget what they feel but never forget what they deserve; who understand that people can like you all day long but might not value you. You need time to grow for marriage. If you rush into it, you leave with the same speed, if not faster.
If you see your marriage as special, you will date at the right time because you don’t want to mess it up. There are countless people in wrong relationships today; some end up in marriage feeling so much disappointed in themselves. They knew they were not ready and started at the wrong time. The result is they deserved better than the choice they settled for and have to deal with it.
In conclusion “Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. 7 Cast all your care upon Him, because He cares for you” – 1 Peter 5:6-7 (MEV).
